<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id82a6c80f-ec38-11e5-a7c9-8f2c075e98f6" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s113a"><num value="113a">§ 113a.</num><heading> Transmission of annual defense authorization request</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id82a6c810-ec38-11e5-a7c9-8f2c075e98f6" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s113a/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Time for Transmittal</inline>.—</heading><content>The Secretary of Defense shall transmit to Congress the annual defense authorization request for a fiscal year during the first 30 days after the date on which the President transmits to Congress the budget for that fiscal year pursuant to <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s1105">section 1105 of title 31</ref>.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id82a6c811-ec38-11e5-a7c9-8f2c075e98f6" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s113a/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Defense Authorization Request Defined</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In this section, the term “defense authorization request”, with respect to a fiscal year, means a legislative proposal submitted to Congress for the enactment of the following:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a6c812-ec38-11e5-a7c9-8f2c075e98f6" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s113a/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> Authorizations of appropriations for that fiscal year, as required by <ref href="/us/usc/t10/s114">section 114 of this title</ref>.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a6c813-ec38-11e5-a7c9-8f2c075e98f6" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s113a/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> Personnel strengths for that fiscal year, as required by <ref href="/us/usc/t10/s115">section 115 of this title</ref>.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a6c814-ec38-11e5-a7c9-8f2c075e98f6" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s113a/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> Authority to carry out military construction projects, as required by <ref href="/us/usc/t10/s2802">section 2802 of this title</ref>.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a6c815-ec38-11e5-a7c9-8f2c075e98f6" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s113a/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> Any other matter that is proposed by the Secretary of Defense to be enacted as part of the annual defense authorization bill for that fiscal year.</content>
