<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id85958ff4-8841-11e3-95ea-fafb7e476462" identifier="/us/usc/t10/s1702"><num value="1702">§ 1702.</num><heading> Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics: authorities and responsibilities</heading><content>
<p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Subject to the authority, direction, and control of the Secretary of Defense, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics shall carry out all powers, functions, and duties of the Secretary of Defense with respect to the acquisition workforce in the Department of Defense. The Under Secretary shall ensure that the policies of the Secretary of Defense established in accordance with this chapter are implemented throughout the Department of Defense. The Under Secretary shall prescribe policies and requirements for the educational programs of the defense acquisition university structure established under <ref href="/us/usc/t10/s1746">section 1746 of this title</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I22" class="indent1"><num value="2">“(2)</num><content> Technology development and technology transition issues.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I22" class="indent1"><num value="3">“(3)</num><content> Issues of acquisition policy, including the length of the acquisition cycle.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I22" class="indent1"><num value="4">“(4)</num><content> Issues of testing policy and ensuring that weapon systems perform properly in combat situations.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I22" class="indent1"><num value="5">“(5)</num><content> Issues of procurement policy, including the impact of socio-economic requirements.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I22" class="indent1"><num value="6">“(6)</num><content> Issues relating to compliance with environmental requirements.”</content>
