<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id0d06c3fb-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905"><num value="1905">§ 1905.</num><heading> Coast Guard Academy minority outreach team program</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id0d06c3fc-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">In General</inline>.—</heading><content>There is established within the Coast Guard Academy a minority outreach team program (in this section referred to as the “Program”) under which officers, including minority officers and officers from territories and other possessions of the United States, who are Academy graduates may volunteer their time to recruit minority students and strengthen cadet retention through mentorship of cadets.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id0d06c3fd-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Administration</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Not later than <date date="2021-01-01">January 1, 2021</date>, the Commandant, in consultation with Program volunteers and Academy alumni that participated in prior programs at the Academy similar to the Program, shall appoint a permanent civilian position at the Academy to administer the Program by, among other things—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id0d06c3fe-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> overseeing administration of the Program;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id0d06c3ff-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> serving as a resource to volunteers and outside stakeholders;</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id0d06c400-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> advising Academy leadership on recruitment and retention efforts based on recommendations from volunteers and outside stakeholders;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id0d06c401-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> establishing strategic goals and performance metrics for the Program with input from active volunteers and Academy leadership; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id0d06c402-a6d3-11ec-8a87-d3a0a0eaf157" identifier="/us/usc/t14/s1905/b/5"><num value="5">(5)</num><content> reporting annually to the Commandant on academic year and performance outcomes of the goals for the Program before the end of each academic year.</content>
