<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">For purposes of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f854e-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Administration</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “Administration” means the Small Business Administration.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f854f-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Administrator</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “Administrator” means the Administrator of the Small Business Administration.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f8550-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Capacity building services</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “capacity building services” means services provided to an organization that is, or that is in the process of becoming, a microenterprise development organization or program, for the purpose of enhancing its ability to provide training and services to disadvantaged entrepreneurs.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f8551-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Collaborative</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “collaborative” means 2 or more nonprofit entities that agree to act jointly as a qualified organization under this chapter.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f8552-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/5"><num value="5" class="bold">(5)</num><heading class="bold"> Disadvantaged entrepreneur</heading><chapeau>The term “disadvantaged entrepreneur” means a microentrepreneur that is—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id968f8553-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/5/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> a low-income person;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id968f8554-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/5/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> a very low-income person; or</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id968f8555-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/5/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> an entrepreneur that lacks adequate access to capital or other resources essential for business success, or is economically disadvantaged, as determined by the Administrator.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f8556-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/6"><num value="6" class="bold">(6)</num><heading class="bold"> Indian tribe</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “Indian tribe” has the meaning given the term in <ref href="/us/usc/t12/s4702">section 4702 of title 12</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f8557-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/7"><num value="7" class="bold">(7)</num><heading class="bold"> Intermediary</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “intermediary” means a private, nonprofit entity that seeks to serve microenterprise development organizations and programs as authorized under <ref href="/us/usc/t15/s6904">section 6904 of this title</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f8558-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/8"><num value="8" class="bold">(8)</num><heading class="bold"> Low-income person</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “low-income person” has the meaning given the term in <ref href="/us/usc/t12/s4702">section 4702 of title 12</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f8559-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/9"><num value="9" class="bold">(9)</num><heading class="bold"> Microentrepreneur</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “microentrepreneur” means the owner or developer of a microenterprise.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f855a-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/10"><num value="10" class="bold">(10)</num><heading class="bold"> Microenterprise</heading><chapeau>The term “microenterprise” means a sole proprietorship, partnership, or corporation that—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id968f855b-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/10/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> has fewer than 5 employees; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id968f855c-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/10/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> generally lacks access to conventional loans, equity, or other banking services.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f855d-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/11"><num value="11" class="bold">(11)</num><heading class="bold"> Microenterprise development organization or program</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “microenterprise development organization or program” means a nonprofit entity, or a program administered by such an entity, including community development corporations or other nonprofit development organizations and social service organizations, that provides services to disadvantaged entrepreneurs.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f855e-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/12"><num value="12" class="bold">(12)</num><heading class="bold"> Training and technical assistance</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “training and technical assistance” means services and support provided to disadvantaged entrepreneurs, such as assistance for the purpose of enhancing business planning, marketing, management, financial management skills, and assistance for the purpose of accessing financial services.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id968f855f-ec38-11e5-b09f-aeee762a9f07" identifier="/us/usc/t15/s6901/13"><num value="13" class="bold">(13)</num><heading class="bold"> Very low-income person</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The term “very low-income person” means having an income, adjusted for family size, of not more than 150 percent of the poverty line (as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t42/s9902/2">section 9902(2) of title 42</ref>, including any revision required by that section).</p>
