L. 115–368, § 3, Dec. 21, 2018, 132 Stat. 5093.)","seq_in_title":2455,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t15/ch114","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t15","level":"title","num":"Title 15—","heading":"COMMERCE AND TRADE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t15/ch114","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 114—","heading":"NATIONAL QUANTUM INITIATIVE","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id2d9818b8-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802\"><num value=\"8802\">§ 8802.</num><heading> Purposes</heading>\n<chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The purpose of this chapter is to ensure the continued leadership of the United States in quantum information science and its technology applications by—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2d9818b9-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><chapeau> supporting research, development, demonstration, and application of quantum information science and technology—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2d9818ba-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/1/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> to expand the number of researchers, educators, and students with training in quantum information science and technology to develop a workforce pipeline;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2d9818bb-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/1/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> to promote the development and inclusion of multidisciplinary curriculum and research opportunities for quantum information science at the undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral level;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2d9818bc-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/1/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> to address basic research knowledge gaps, including computational research gaps;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2d9818bd-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/1/D\"><num value=\"D\">(D)</num><content> to promote the further development of facilities and centers available for quantum information science and technology research, testing and education; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2d9818be-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/1/E\"><num value=\"E\">(E)</num><content> to stimulate research on and promote more rapid development of quantum-based technologies;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2d9818bf-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> improving the interagency planning and coordination of Federal research and development of quantum information science and technology;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2d9818c0-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> maximizing the effectiveness of the Federal Government’s quantum information science and technology research, development, and demonstration programs;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2d9818c1-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> promoting collaboration among the Federal Government, Federal laboratories, industry, and universities; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id2d9818c2-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/5\"><num value=\"5\">(5)</num><chapeau> promoting the development of international standards for quantum information science and technology security—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2d9818c3-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/5/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> to facilitate technology innovation and private sector commercialization; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2d9818c4-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t15/s8802/5/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> to meet economic and national security goals.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id2d9818c5-a3d3-11e9-83b4-b8c8a2a68a45\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/115/368/s3\">Pub.
