<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="idad2b2388-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955"><num value="3955">§ 3955.</num><heading> Distribution of appropriations</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad2b2389-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Priority project and conservation planning expenditures</heading><chapeau>Of the total amount appropriated during a given fiscal year to carry out this chapter, 70 percent shall be available, and shall remain available until expended, for the purposes of making expenditures—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad2b238a-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><chapeau> not to exceed the aggregate amount of $5,000,000 annually to assist the Task Force in the preparation of the list required under this chapter and the plan required under this chapter, including preparation of—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad2b238b-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> preliminary assessments;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad2b238c-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> general or site-specific inventories;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad2b238d-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/1/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> reconnaissance, engineering or other studies;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad2b238e-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/1/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> preliminary design work; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad2b238f-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/1/E"><num value="E">(E)</num><content> such other studies as may be necessary to identify and evaluate the feasibility of coastal wetland restoration projects;</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad2b2390-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> to carry out coastal wetlands restoration projects in accordance with the priorities set forth on the list prepared under this chapter;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad2b2391-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> to carry out wetlands restoration projects in accordance with the priorities set forth in the restoration plan prepared under this chapter;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad2b2392-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/a/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> to make grants not to exceed $2,500,000 annually or $10,000,000 in total, to assist the agency designated by the State in development of the Coastal Wetlands Conservation Plan pursuant to this chapter.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad2b2393-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Coastal wetlands conservation grants</heading><chapeau>Of the total amount appropriated during a given fiscal year to carry out this chapter, 15 percent shall be available, and shall remain available to the Director, for purposes of making grants—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad2b2394-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> to any coastal State, except States eligible to receive funding under subsection (a), to carry out coastal wetlands conservation projects in accordance with <ref href="/us/usc/t16/s3954">section 3954 of this title</ref>; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad2b2395-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> in the amount of $2,500,000 in total for an assessment of the status, condition, and trends of wetlands in the State of Texas.</content>
</paragraph>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="idad2b2396-8eec-11e6-8cee-d5482fd9c58d" identifier="/us/usc/t16/s3955/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> North American wetlands conservation</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Of the total amount appropriated during a given fiscal year to carry out this chapter, 15 percent shall be available to, and shall remain available until expended by, the Secretary of the Interior for allocation to carry out wetlands conservation projects in coastal wetlands ecosystems in any coastal State under <ref href="/us/usc/t16/s4407">section 4407 of this title</ref>.</p>
