<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id74ab5d82-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s1344"><num value="1344">§ 1344.</num><heading> Bank fraud</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Whoever knowingly executes, or attempts to execute, a scheme or artifice—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id74ab5d83-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s1344/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> to defraud a financial institution; or</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id74ab5d84-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s1344/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> to obtain any of the moneys, funds, credits, assets, securities, or other property owned by, or under the custody or control of, a financial institution, by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises;</content>
</paragraph>

<continuation style="-uslm-lc:I10" class="indent0 firstIndent0">shall be fined not more than $1,000,000 or imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both.</continuation>
