<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Whoever knowingly executes, or attempts to execute, a scheme or artifice—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id74ab5daa-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s1348/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> to defraud any person in connection with any commodity for future delivery, or any option on a commodity for future delivery, or any security of an issuer with a class of securities registered under section 12 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s78">15 U.S.C. 78</ref><i>l</i>) or that is required to file reports under section 15(d) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s78">15 U.S.C. 78</ref><i>o</i>(d)); or</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id74ab5dab-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s1348/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> to obtain, by means of false or fraudulent pretenses, representations, or promises, any money or property in connection with the purchase or sale of any commodity for future delivery, or any option on a commodity for future delivery, or any security of an issuer with a class of securities registered under section 12 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s78">15 U.S.C. 78</ref><i>l</i>) or that is required to file reports under section 15(d) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (<ref href="/us/usc/t15/s78">15 U.S.C. 78</ref><i>o</i>(d));</content>
