L. 104–294, title VI, § 606(a), Oct. 11, 1996, 110 Stat. 3511.)","seq_in_title":87,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptI/ch11","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18","level":"title","num":"Title 18—","heading":"CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptI","level":"part","num":"PART I—","heading":"CRIMES","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptI/ch11","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 11—","heading":"BRIBERY, GRAFT, AND CONFLICTS OF INTEREST","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id74532b43-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s215\"><num value=\"215\">§ 215.</num><heading> Receipt of commissions or gifts for procuring loans</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id74532b44-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s215/a\"><num value=\"a\">(a)</num><chapeau> Whoever—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id74532b45-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s215/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> corruptly gives, offers, or promises anything of value to any person, with intent to influence or reward an officer, director, employee, agent, or attorney of a financial institution in connection with any business or transaction of such institution; or</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id74532b46-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s215/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> as an officer, director, employee, agent, or attorney of a financial institution, corruptly solicits or demands for the benefit of any person, or corruptly accepts or agrees to accept, anything of value from any person, intending to be influenced or rewarded in connection with any business or transaction of such institution;</content>\n</paragraph>\n\n<continuation style=\"-uslm-lc:I10\" class=\"indent0 firstIndent0\">shall be fined not more than $1,000,000 or three times the value of the thing given, offered, promised, solicited, demanded, accepted, or agreed to be accepted, whichever is greater, or imprisoned not more than 30 years, or both, but if the value of the thing given, offered, promised, solicited, demanded, accepted, or agreed to be accepted does not exceed $1,000, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both.</continuation>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id74532b47-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s215/b\"><num value=\"b\">[(b)</num><content> Transferred]</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id74532b48-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s215/c\"><num value=\"c\">(c)</num><content> This section shall not apply to bona fide salary, wages, fees, or other compensation paid, or expenses paid or reimbursed, in the usual course of business.</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id74532b49-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s215/d\"><num value=\"d\">(d)</num><content> Federal agencies with responsibility for regulating a financial institution shall jointly establish such guidelines as are appropriate to assist an officer, director, employee, agent, or attorney of a financial institution to comply with this section.
