The court may also award punitive damages and such other preliminary and equitable relief as the court determines to be appropriate.</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id74fa18c8-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/b\"><num value=\"b\">(b)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Statute of Limitations</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>Any action commenced under this section shall be barred unless the complaint is filed—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id74fa18c9-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><chapeau> not later than 10 years after the date on which the plaintiff reasonably discovers the later of—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id74fa18ca-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/b/1/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> the violation that forms the basis for the claim; or</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id74fa18cb-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/b/1/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> the injury that forms the basis for the claim; or</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id74fa18cc-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> not later than 10 years after the date on which the victim reaches 18 years of age.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id74fa18cd-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/c\"><num value=\"c\">(c)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Venue; Service of Process.—</inline></heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id74fa18ce-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/c/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Venue</inline>.—</heading><content>Any action brought under subsection (a) may be brought in the district court of the United States that meets applicable requirements relating to venue under <ref href=\"/us/usc/t28/s1391\">section 1391 of title 28</ref>.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id74fa18cf-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/c/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Service of process</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In an action brought under subsection (a), process may be served in any district in which the defendant—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id74fa18d0-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/c/2/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> is an inhabitant; or</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id74fa18d1-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s2255/c/2/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> may be found.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id74fa18d2-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf\">(Added <ref href=\"/us/pl/99/500/s101/b/tVII/s703/a\">Pub.
