<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id750d2c1e-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2321"><num value="2321">§ 2321.</num><heading> Trafficking in certain motor vehicles or motor vehicle parts</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id750d2c1f-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2321/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><content> Whoever buys, receives, possesses, or obtains control of, with intent to sell or otherwise dispose of, a motor vehicle or motor vehicle part, knowing that an identification number for such motor vehicle or part has been removed, obliterated, tampered with, or altered, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id750d2c20-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2321/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><chapeau> Subsection (a) does not apply if the removal, obliteration, tampering, or alteration—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id750d2c21-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2321/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> is caused by collision or fire; or</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id750d2c22-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2321/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> is not a violation of <ref href="/us/usc/t18/s511">section 511 of this title</ref>.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id750d2c23-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2321/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><content> As used in this section, the terms “identification number” and “motor vehicle” have the meaning given those terms in <ref href="/us/usc/t18/s511">section 511 of this title</ref>.</content>
