<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id750f9d0c-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d"><num value="2332d">§ 2332d.</num><heading> Financial transactions</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id750f9d0d-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Offense</inline>.—</heading><content>Except as provided in regulations issued by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State, whoever, being a United States person, knowing or having reasonable cause to know that a country is designated under section 6(j) <ref class="footnoteRef" idref="fn002188">1</ref><note type="footnote" id="fn002188"><num>1</num> See References in Text note below.</note> of the Export Administration Act of 1979 (50 U.S.C. App. 2405) as a country supporting international terrorism, engages in a financial transaction with the government of that country, shall be fined under this title, imprisoned for not more than 10 years, or both.</content>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id750f9d0e-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Definitions</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>As used in this section—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id750f9d0f-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the term “financial transaction” has the same meaning as in section 1956(c)(4); and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id750f9d10-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><chapeau> the term “United States person” means any—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id750f9d11-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/b/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> United States citizen or national;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id750f9d12-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/b/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> permanent resident alien;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id750f9d13-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/b/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> juridical person organized under the laws of the United States; or</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id750f9d14-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s2332d/b/2/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> any person in the United States.</content>
