<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">As used in this chapter—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id753ceea4-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s3172/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the terms “judge” or “judicial officer” mean, unless otherwise indicated, any United States magistrate judge, Federal district judge, and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id753ceea5-3b28-11eb-ad8c-9fba61cd9daf" identifier="/us/usc/t18/s3172/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the term “offense” means any Federal criminal offense which is in violation of any Act of Congress and is triable by any court established by Act of Congress (other than a Class B or C misdemeanor or an infraction, or an offense triable by court-martial, military commission, provost court, or other military tribunal).</content>
