L. 109–164, title I, § 103(a)(1), Jan. 10, 2006, 119 Stat. 3562.)","seq_in_title":1093,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptII/ch212A","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18","level":"title","num":"Title 18—","heading":"CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptII","level":"part","num":"PART II—","heading":"CRIMINAL PROCEDURE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptII/ch212A","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 212A—","heading":"EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OVER CERTAIN OFFENSES","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"idd3eb92a4-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272\"><num value=\"3272\">§ 3272.</num><heading> Definitions</heading>\n<chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">As used in this chapter:</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd3eb92a5-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><chapeau> The term “employed by the Federal Government outside the United States” means—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idd3eb92a6-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/1/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> employed as a civilian employee of the Federal Government, as a Federal contractor (including a subcontractor at any tier), or as an employee of a Federal contractor (including a subcontractor at any tier);</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idd3eb92a7-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/1/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> present or residing outside the United States in connection with such employment; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idd3ebb9b8-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/1/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> not a national of or ordinarily resident in the host nation.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd3ebb9b9-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><chapeau> The term “accompanying the Federal Government outside the United States” means—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idd3ebb9ba-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/2/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><chapeau> a dependant of—</chapeau><clause style=\"-uslm-lc:I14\" class=\"indent3\" id=\"idd3ebb9bb-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/2/A/i\"><num value=\"i\">(i)</num><content> a civilian employee of the Federal Government; or</content>\n</clause>\n<clause style=\"-uslm-lc:I14\" class=\"indent3\" id=\"idd3ebb9bc-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/2/A/ii\"><num value=\"ii\">(ii)</num><content> a Federal contractor (including a subcontractor at any tier) or an employee of a Federal contractor (including a subcontractor at any tier);</content>\n</clause>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idd3ebb9bd-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/2/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> residing with such civilian employee, contractor, or contractor employee outside the United States; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"idd3ebb9be-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s3272/2/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> not a national of or ordinarily resident in the host nation.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<sourceCredit id=\"idd3ebb9bf-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\">(Added <ref href=\"/us/pl/109/164/tI/s103/a/1\">Pub.
