L. 115–391, title II, § 202(a), Dec. 21, 2018, 132 Stat. 5216.)","seq_in_title":1309,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptIII/ch303","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18","level":"title","num":"Title 18—","heading":"CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptIII","level":"part","num":"PART III—","heading":"PRISONS AND PRISONERS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t18/ptIII/ch303","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 303—","heading":"BUREAU OF PRISONS","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"idd40f477a-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050\"><num value=\"4050\">§ 4050.</num><heading> Secure firearms storage</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"idd40f477b-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/a\"><num value=\"a\">(a)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Definitions</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>In this section—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd40f477c-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> the term “employee” means a qualified law enforcement officer employed by the Bureau of Prisons; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd40f477d-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> the terms “firearm” and “qualified law enforcement officer” have the meanings given those terms under section 926B.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"idd40f477e-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/b\"><num value=\"b\">(b)</num><heading> <inline class=\"small-caps\">Secure Firearms Storage</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The Director of the Bureau of Prisons shall ensure that each chief executive officer of a Federal penal or correctional institution—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd40f477f-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd40f4780-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/b/1/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> provides a secure storage area located outside of the secure perimeter of the institution for employees to store firearms; or</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd40f4781-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/b/1/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> allows employees to store firearms in a vehicle lockbox approved by the Director of the Bureau of Prisons; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd40f4782-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t18/s4050/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> notwithstanding any other provision of law, allows employees to carry concealed firearms on the premises outside of the secure perimeter of the institution.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"idd40f4783-b211-11e9-bc44-d051d0f40dfd\">(Added <ref href=\"/us/pl/115/391/tII/s202/a\">Pub.
