<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id183f7e2d-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s121b/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Creditable civilian service in Senate Building Beauty Shop for basic annuity</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Any individual who, on <date date="1988-10-01">October 1, 1988</date>, is an employee of the Senate Building Beauty Shop and who, after having been employed by the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper pursuant to subsection (a) of this section, attains 5 years of civilian service creditable under <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s8411">section 8411 of title 5</ref>, other than service credited pursuant to subsection (d) of this section, may be credited under such section for any service as an employee of the Senate Building Beauty Shop prior to <date date="1988-10-01">October 1, 1988</date>, if such employee makes a payment of the amount, determined by the Office of Personnel Management, that would have been deducted and withheld from the basic pay of such employee under <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s8422">section 8422 of title 5</ref> for such period so credited, together with interest thereon.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id183f7e2e-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s121b/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Creditable civilian service in Senate Building Beauty Shop for survivor annuities and disability benefits</heading><chapeau>Notwithstanding any other provision of this section, any service performed by an individual in the Senate Building Beauty Shop prior to <date date="1988-10-01">October 1, 1988</date>, is deemed to be civilian service creditable under <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s8411">section 8411 of title 5</ref> for purposes of qualifying for survivor annuities and disability benefits under subchapters IV and V of chapter 84 of title 5, if such individual—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id183f7e2f-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s121b/d/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> on <date date="1988-10-01">October 1, 1988</date>, is an employee of the Senate Building Beauty Shop;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id183f7e30-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s121b/d/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> on or after <date date="1988-10-01">October 1, 1988</date>, is employed by the Sergeant at Arms and Doorkeeper pursuant to subsection (a) of this section; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id183f7e31-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s121b/d/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> payment is made of an amount, determined by the Office of Personnel Management, which would have been deducted and withheld from the basic pay of such employee under <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s8422">section 8422 of title 5</ref> for such period so credited, together with interest thereon.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id183f7e32-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s121b/e"><num value="e" class="bold">(e)</num><heading class="bold"> Certification concerning creditable service; acceptance by Office of Personnel Management</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Office of Personnel Management shall accept the certification of the Secretary of the Senate concerning creditable service for the purpose of this section.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id183f7e33-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s121b/f"><num value="f" class="bold">(f)</num><heading class="bold"> Effective date</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The foregoing provisions of this section shall take effect on <date date="1988-10-01">October 1, 1988</date>.</p>
