L. 106–474, title I, § 102, Nov. 9, 2000, 114 Stat. 2085.)","seq_in_title":1013,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch27/schI","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2","level":"title","num":"Title 2—","heading":"THE CONGRESS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch27","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 27—","heading":"SOUND RECORDING PRESERVATION BY THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch27/schI","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER I—","heading":"NATIONAL RECORDING REGISTRY","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"idd0b3db98-099f-11eb-8281-b19fb17b147d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1702\"><num value=\"1702\">§ 1702.</num><heading> Duties of Librarian of Congress</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idd0b3db99-099f-11eb-8281-b19fb17b147d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1702/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Establishment of criteria and procedures</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">For purposes of carrying out this subchapter, the Librarian shall—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd0b3db9a-099f-11eb-8281-b19fb17b147d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1702/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> establish criteria and procedures under which sound recordings may be included in the National Recording Registry, except that no sound recording shall be eligible for inclusion in the National Recording Registry until 10 years after the recording’s creation;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd0b3db9b-099f-11eb-8281-b19fb17b147d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1702/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> establish procedures under which the general public may make recommendations to the National Recording Preservation Board established under subchapter III regarding the inclusion of sound recordings in the National Recording Registry; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"idd0b3db9c-099f-11eb-8281-b19fb17b147d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1702/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> determine which sound recordings satisfy the criteria established under paragraph (1) and select such recordings for inclusion in the National Recording Registry.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"idd0b3db9d-099f-11eb-8281-b19fb17b147d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1702/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Publication of sound recordings in the Registry</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Librarian shall publish in the Federal Register the name of each sound recording that is selected for inclusion in the National Recording Registry.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"idd0b3db9e-099f-11eb-8281-b19fb17b147d\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/106/474/tI/s102\">Pub.
