L. 111–145, §§ 3(b)(1), 4(a)(1), Mar. 4, 2010, 124 Stat. 52.)","seq_in_title":1092,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch29/schI/ptA","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2","level":"title","num":"Title 2—","heading":"THE CONGRESS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch29","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 29—","heading":"CAPITOL POLICE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch29/schI","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER I—","heading":"ORGANIZATION AND ADMINISTRATION","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch29/schI/ptA","level":"part","num":"Part A—","heading":"General","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id5d6f5876-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908\"><num value=\"1908\">§ 1908.</num><heading> Legal representation authority</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id5d6f5877-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id5d6f5878-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a/1\"><num value=\"1\" class=\"bold\">(1)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Authorization of representation</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">Any counsel described under paragraph (2) may for the purposes of providing legal assistance and representation to the United States Capitol Police Board or the United States Capitol Police enter an appearance in any proceeding before any court of the United States or of any State or political subdivision thereof, without compliance with any requirement for admission to practice before such court.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id5d6f5879-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a/2\"><num value=\"2\" class=\"bold\">(2)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Counsel</heading><chapeau>Paragraph (1) refers to—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id5d6f587a-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a/2/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> the General Counsel to the Chief of Police and the United States Capitol Police;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id5d6f587b-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a/2/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> the Employment Counsel to the Chief of Police and the United States Capitol Police;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id5d6f587c-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a/2/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> any attorney employed in the Office of the General Counsel for the United States Capitol Police or the Office of Employment Counsel for the United States Capitol Police;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id5d6f587d-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a/2/D\"><num value=\"D\">(D)</num><content> the counsel for, or any attorney employed by, any successor office of either office described under subparagraph (C); and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id5d6f587e-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/a/2/E\"><num value=\"E\">(E)</num><content> any attorney retained by contract with either office described under subparagraph (C).</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id5d6f587f-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Limitations</heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id5d6f5880-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/b/1\"><num value=\"1\" class=\"bold\">(1)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Direction for appearance</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">Entrance of appearance authorized under subsection (a) shall be subject to the direction of the Capitol Police Board.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id5d6f5881-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/b/2\"><num value=\"2\" class=\"bold\">(2)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> United States Supreme Court</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">The authority under subsection (a) shall not apply with respect to the admission of any person to practice before the United States Supreme Court.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id5d6f5882-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1908/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Effective date</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">This section shall apply to fiscal year 2004, and each fiscal year thereafter.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id5d6f5883-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/108/83/tI\">Pub.
