L. 111–145, § 2(c), Mar. 4, 2010, 124 Stat. 51.)","seq_in_title":1060,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch29/schII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2","level":"title","num":"Title 2—","heading":"THE CONGRESS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch29","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 29—","heading":"CAPITOL POLICE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t2/ch29/schII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER II—","heading":"POWERS AND DUTIES","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id1958682c-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978\"><num value=\"1978\">§ 1978.</num><heading> Deployment outside of jurisdiction</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id1958682d-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Requirements for prior notice and approval</heading><chapeau>The Chief of the Capitol Police may not deploy any officer outside of the areas established by law for the jurisdiction of the Capitol Police unless—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1958682e-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> the Chief provides prior notification to the Committee on House Administration of the House of Representatives, the Committee on Rules and Administration of the Senate, and the Committees on Appropriations of the House of Representatives and Senate of the costs anticipated to be incurred with respect to the deployment; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1958682f-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> the Capitol Police Board gives prior approval to the deployment.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id19586830-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Exception for certain services</heading><chapeau>Subsection (a) of this section does not apply with respect to the deployment of any officer for any of the following purposes:</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id19586831-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> Responding to an imminent threat or emergency.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id19586832-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> Intelligence gathering.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id19586833-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/b/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> Providing protective services.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id19586834-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t2/s1978/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Effective date</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">This section shall apply with respect to fiscal year 2005 and each succeeding fiscal year.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id19586835-425e-11e3-8d4d-f11243cf9240\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/108/447/s1007\">Pub.
