<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id053133f3-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002"><num value="2002">§ 2002.</num><heading> Acquisition of buildings and facilities for use in emergency situation</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053133f4-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Acquisition of buildings and facilities</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Notwithstanding any other provision of law, in order to respond to an emergency situation, the Chief Administrative Officer of the House of Representatives may acquire buildings and facilities, subject to the availability of appropriations, for the use of the House of Representatives by lease, purchase, or such other arrangement as the Chief Administrative Officer considers appropriate (including a memorandum of understanding with the head of an executive agency, as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s105">section 105 of title 5</ref>, in the case of a building or facility under the control of such Agency), subject to the approval of the House Office Building Commission.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053133f5-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Agreements</heading><chapeau>Notwithstanding any other provision of law, for purposes of carrying out subsection (a), the Chief Administrative Officer may carry out such activities and enter into such agreements related to the use of any building or facility acquired pursuant to such subsection as the Chief Administrative Officer considers appropriate, including—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id053133f6-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> agreements with the United States Capitol Police or any other entity relating to the policing of such building or facility; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id053133f7-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> agreements with the Architect of the Capitol or any other entity relating to the care and maintenance of such building or facility.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053133f8-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Authority of Capitol Police and Architect</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id053133f9-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/c/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Architect of the Capitol</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the Architect of the Capitol may take any action necessary to carry out an agreement entered into with the Chief Administrative Officer pursuant to subsection (b).</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053133fb-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Transfer of certain funds</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Subject to the approval of the Committee on Appropriations of the House of Representatives, the Architect of the Capitol may transfer to the Chief Administrative Officer amounts made available to the Architect for necessary expenses for the maintenance, care and operation of the House office buildings during a fiscal year in order to cover any portion of the costs incurred by the Chief Administrative Officer during the year in acquiring a building or facility pursuant to subsection (a).</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053133fc-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2002/e"><num value="e" class="bold">(e)</num><heading class="bold"> Effective date</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">This section and the amendments made by this section shall apply with respect to fiscal year 2002 and each succeeding fiscal year.</p>
