<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id053f8c6a-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273"><num value="2273">§ 2273.</num><heading> Coins treated as gifts</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053f8c6b-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Definition</heading><chapeau>In this section, the term “covered grounds” means—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id053f8c6c-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the grounds described under <ref href="/us/usc/t40/s5102">section 5102 of title 40</ref>;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id053f8c6d-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the Capitol Buildings defined under <ref href="/us/usc/t40/s5101">section 5101 of title 40</ref>, including the Capitol Visitor Center; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id053f8c6e-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> the Library of Congress buildings and grounds described under <ref href="/us/usc/t2/s167j">section 167j of this title</ref>.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053f8c6f-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Treatment of coins</heading><chapeau>In the case of any coins in any fountains on covered grounds—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id053f8c70-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> such coins shall be treated as gifts to the United States; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id053f8c71-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><chapeau> the Architect of the Capitol shall—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id053f8c72-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/b/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> collect such coins at such times and in such manner as the Architect determines appropriate; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id053f8c73-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/b/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> except as provided under subsection (c), deposit the collected coins in accordance with subsection (d).</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053f8c74-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Cost reimbursement</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Any amount collected under this section shall first be used to reimburse the Architect of the Capitol for any costs incurred in the collection and processing of the coins. The amount of any such reimbursement is appropriated to the account from which such costs were paid and may be used for any authorized purpose of that account.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053f8c75-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Deposit of coins</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Architect of the Capitol shall deposit coins collected under this section in the Miscellaneous Receipts Account of the Capitol Visitor Center Revolving Fund established under <ref href="/us/usc/t2/s2231">section 2231 of this title</ref>.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id053f8c76-8e02-11e9-924e-8bbe14d5249c" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s2273/e"><num value="e" class="bold">(e)</num><heading class="bold"> Authorized use and availability</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Amounts deposited in the Miscellaneous Receipts Account of the Capitol Visitor Center Revolving Fund under this section shall be available as provided under <ref href="/us/usc/t2/s2233/b">section 2233(b) of this title</ref>.</p>
