<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id5d9a3989-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s5341"><num value="5341">§ 5341.</num><heading> Representational allowance for Members of House of Representatives</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id5d9a398a-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s5341/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">There is established for the House of Representatives a single allowance, to be known as the “Members’ Representational Allowance”, which shall be available to support the conduct of the official and representational duties of a Member of the House of Representatives with respect to the district from which the Member is elected.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id5d9a398b-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s5341/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Merger</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Clerk Hire Allowance, the Official Expenses Allowance, and the Official Mail Allowance, as in effect on the day before <date date="1995-09-01">September 1, 1995</date>, are merged into the Members’ Representational Allowance.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id5d9a398c-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s5341/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> “Member of the House of Representatives” defined</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">As used in this section, the term “Member of the House of Representatives” means a Representative in, or a Delegate or Resident Commissioner to, the Congress.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id5d9a398d-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s5341/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Regulations</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Committee on House Oversight of the House of Representatives shall have authority to prescribe regulations to carry out this section.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id5d9a398e-ec38-11e5-89e9-afe61b29b17d" identifier="/us/usc/t2/s5341/e"><num value="e" class="bold">(e)</num><heading class="bold"> Effective date</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">This section shall take effect on <date date="1995-09-01">September 1, 1995</date> and shall apply with respect to official and representational duties carried out on or after that date.</p>
