<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id6c3015cd-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e"><num value="1092e">§ 1092e.</num><heading> College access initiative</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id6c3015ce-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> State-by-State information</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Secretary shall direct each guaranty agency with which the Secretary has an agreement under <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1078/c">section 1078(c) of this title</ref> to provide to the Secretary the information necessary for the development of Internet web links and access for students and families to a comprehensive listing of the postsecondary education opportunities, programs, publications, Internet web sites, and other services available in the States for which such agency serves as the designated guarantor.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id6c3015cf-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Guaranty agency activities</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id6c3015d0-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/b/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Plan and activity required</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Each guaranty agency with which the Secretary has an agreement under <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1078/c">section 1078(c) of this title</ref> shall develop a plan, and undertake the activity necessary, to gather the information required under subsection (a) and to make such information available to the public and to the Secretary in a form and manner as prescribed by the Secretary.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id6c3015d1-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/b/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Activities</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Each guaranty agency shall undertake such activities as are necessary to promote access to postsecondary education for students through providing information on college planning, career preparation, and paying for college. The guaranty agency shall publicize such information and coordinate such activities with other entities that either provide or distribute such information in the States for which such guaranty agency serves as the designated guarantor.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id6c3015d2-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/b/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Funding</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The activities required by this section may be funded from the guaranty agency’s Operating Fund established pursuant to <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1072b">section 1072b of this title</ref> and, to the extent funds remain, from earnings on the restricted account established pursuant to <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1072/h/4">section 1072(h)(4) of this title</ref>.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id6c3015d3-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/b/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Rule of construction</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to require a guaranty agency to duplicate any efforts under way on <date date="2006-02-08">February 8, 2006</date>, that meet the requirements of this section.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id6c303ce4-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Access to information</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id6c303ce5-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/c/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Secretary’s responsibility</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The Secretary shall ensure the availability of the information provided, by the guaranty agencies in accordance with this section, to students, parents, and other interested individuals, through Internet web links or other methods prescribed by the Secretary.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id6c303ce6-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/c/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Guaranty agency responsibility</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The guaranty agencies shall ensure that the information required by this section is available without charge in printed format for students and parents requesting such information.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id6c303ce7-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1092e/c/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Publicity</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Not later than 270 days after <date date="2006-02-08">February 8, 2006</date>, the Secretary and guaranty agencies shall publicize the availability of the information required by this section, with special emphasis on ensuring that populations that are traditionally underrepresented in postsecondary education are made aware of the availability of such information.</p>
