<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id82a36a97-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472"><num value="1472">§ 1472.</num><heading> Community parent resource centers</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id82a36a98-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Program authorized</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id82a36a99-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The Secretary may award grants to, and enter into contracts and cooperative agreements with, local parent organizations to support community parent resource centers that will help ensure that underserved parents of children with disabilities, including low income parents, parents of limited English proficient children, and parents with disabilities, have the training and information the parents need to enable the parents to participate effectively in helping their children with disabilities—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id82a36a9a-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> to meet developmental and functional goals, and challenging academic achievement goals that have been established for all children; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id82a36a9b-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> to be prepared to lead productive independent adult lives, to the maximum extent possible.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id82a36a9c-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Definition of local parent organization</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">In this section, the term “local parent organization” means a parent organization, as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1471/a/2">section 1471(a)(2) of this title</ref>, that—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id82a36a9d-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> has a board of directors the majority of whom are parents of children with disabilities ages birth through 26 from the community to be served; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id82a36a9e-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><chapeau> has as its mission serving parents of children with disabilities who—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id82a36a9f-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/2/B/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> are ages birth through 26; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id82a36aa0-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/a/2/B/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> have the full range of disabilities described in <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1401/3">section 1401(3) of this title</ref>.</content>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id82a36aa1-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Required activities</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Each community parent resource center assisted under this section shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a36aa2-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> provide training and information that meets the training and information needs of parents of children with disabilities proposed to be served by the grant, contract, or cooperative agreement;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a36aa3-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> carry out the activities required of parent training and information centers under paragraphs (2) through (9) of <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1471/b">section 1471(b) of this title</ref>;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a36aa4-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> establish cooperative partnerships with the parent training and information centers funded under <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s1471">section 1471 of this title</ref>; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id82a36aa5-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s1472/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> be designed to meet the specific needs of families who experience significant isolation from available sources of information and support.</content>
