<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id6cdd94a8-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7231c"><num value="7231c">§ 7231c.</num><heading> Eligibility</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">A local educational agency, or consortium of such agencies where appropriate, is eligible to receive a grant under this part to carry out the purpose of this part if such agency or consortium—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6cdd94a9-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7231c/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> is implementing a plan undertaken pursuant to a final order issued by a court of the United States, or a court of any State, or any other State agency or official of competent jurisdiction, that requires the desegregation of minority-group-segregated children or faculty in the elementary schools and secondary schools of such agency; or</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6cdd94aa-d2f2-11e9-aa7d-f436298d01bb" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7231c/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> without having been required to do so, has adopted and is implementing, or will, if a grant is awarded to such local educational agency, or consortium of such agencies, under this part, adopt and implement a plan that has been approved by the Secretary as adequate under title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 [<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s2000d">42 U.S.C. 2000d</ref> et seq.] for the desegregation of minority-group-segregated children or faculty in such schools.</content>
