<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id8353ce0b-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425"><num value="7425">§ 7425.</num><heading> Authorized services and activities</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8353ce0c-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> General requirements</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Each local educational agency that receives a grant under this subpart shall use the grant funds, in a manner consistent with the purpose specified in <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s7421">section 7421 of this title</ref>, for services and activities that—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce0d-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> are designed to carry out the comprehensive program of the local educational agency for Indian students, and described in the application of the local educational agency submitted to the Secretary under <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s7424/a">section 7424(a) of this title</ref> solely for the services and activities described in such application;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce0e-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> are designed to be responsive to the language and cultural needs of the Indian students; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce0f-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> supplement and enrich the regular school program of such agency.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8353ce10-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Particular activities</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The services and activities referred to in subsection (a) may include—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce11-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> activities that support Native American language programs and Native American language restoration programs, which may be taught by traditional leaders;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce12-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> culturally related activities that support the program described in the application submitted by the local educational agency;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce13-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> early childhood and family programs that emphasize school readiness;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce14-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> enrichment programs that focus on problem solving and cognitive skills development and directly support the attainment of challenging State academic standards;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce15-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/5"><num value="5">(5)</num><content> integrated educational services in combination with other programs that meet the needs of Indian children and their families, including programs that promote parental involvement in school activities and increase student achievement;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce16-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/6"><num value="6">(6)</num><content> career preparation activities to enable Indian students to participate in programs such as the programs supported by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006 (<ref href="/us/usc/t20/s2301">20 U.S.C. 2301</ref> et seq.), including programs for mentoring and apprenticeship;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce17-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/7"><num value="7">(7)</num><content> activities to educate individuals so as to prevent violence, suicide, and substance abuse;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce18-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/8"><num value="8">(8)</num><content> the acquisition of equipment, but only if the acquisition of the equipment is essential to achieve the purpose described in <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s7421">section 7421 of this title</ref>;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce19-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/9"><num value="9">(9)</num><content> activities that promote the incorporation of culturally responsive teaching and learning strategies into the educational program of the local educational agency;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce1a-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/10"><num value="10">(10)</num><content> family literacy services;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce1b-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/11"><num value="11">(11)</num><content> activities that recognize and support the unique cultural and educational needs of Indian children, and incorporate appropriately qualified tribal elders and seniors;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce1c-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/12"><num value="12">(12)</num><content> dropout prevention strategies for Indian students; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce1d-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/b/13"><num value="13">(13)</num><content> strategies to meet the educational needs of at-risk Indian students in correctional facilities, including such strategies that support Indian students who are transitioning from such facilities to schools served by local educational agencies.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8353ce1e-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Schoolwide programs</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Notwithstanding any other provision of law, a local educational agency may use funds made available to such agency under this subpart to support a schoolwide program under <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s6314">section 6314 of this title</ref> if—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce1f-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/c/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the committee established pursuant to <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s7424/c/4">section 7424(c)(4) of this title</ref> approves the use of the funds for the schoolwide program;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce20-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/c/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the schoolwide program is consistent with the purpose described in <ref href="/us/usc/t20/s7421">section 7421 of this title</ref>; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id8353ce21-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/c/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> the local educational agency identifies in its application how the use of such funds in a schoolwide program will produce benefits to Indian students that would not be achieved if the funds were not used in a schoolwide program.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8353ce22-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Limitation on administrative costs</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Not more than 5 percent of the funds provided to a grantee under this subpart for any fiscal year may be used for administrative purposes.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id8353ce23-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s7425/e"><num value="e" class="bold">(e)</num><heading class="bold"> Limitation on the use of funds</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Funds provided to a grantee under this subpart may not be used for long-distance travel expenses for training activities that are available locally or regionally.</p>
