or</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id83778254-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t20/s7907/c/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> create any legally enforceable right.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id83778255-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t20/s7907/d\"><num value=\"d\" class=\"bold\">(d)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Prohibition on requiring Federal approval or certification of standards</heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id83778256-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t20/s7907/d/1\"><num value=\"1\" class=\"bold\">(1)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">Notwithstanding any other provision of Federal law, no State shall be required to have academic standards approved or certified by the Federal Government, in order to receive assistance under this chapter.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id83778257-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t20/s7907/d/2\"><num value=\"2\" class=\"bold\">(2)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Rule of construction</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to prohibit a State, local educational agency, or school from using funds provided under this chapter for the development or implementation of any instructional content, academic standards, academic assessments, curriculum, or program of instruction that a State, local educational agency, or school chooses, as permitted under State and local law, as long as the use of such funds is consistent with the terms of the grant, contract, or cooperative agreement providing such funds.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id83778258-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t20/s7907/d/3\"><num value=\"3\" class=\"bold\">(3)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Building standards</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to mandate national school building standards for a State, local educational agency, or school.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id83778259-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/89/10/tVIII/s8527\">Pub.
