<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id809b8b72-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f"><num value="80f">§ 80f.</num><heading> Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars; Board of Trustees of the Center</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id809b8b73-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Establishment</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">There is hereby established in the Smithsonian Institution a Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars and a Board of Trustees of the Center (hereinafter referred to as the “Center” and the “Board”), whose duties it shall be to maintain and administer the Center and site thereof and to execute such other functions as are vested in the Board by this subchapter.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id809b8b74-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Composition of Board</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Board of Trustees shall be composed of 17 members as follows:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b75-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the Secretary of State;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b76-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the Secretary of Health and Human Services;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b77-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> the Secretary of Education;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b78-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b79-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/5"><num value="5">(5)</num><content> the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b7a-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/6"><num value="6">(6)</num><content> the Librarian of Congress;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b7b-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/7"><num value="7">(7)</num><content> the Archivist of the United States;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b7c-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/8"><num value="8">(8)</num><content> one member appointed by the President from time to time from within the Federal Government; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id809b8b7d-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/b/9"><num value="9">(9)</num><content> 9 members appointed by the President from private life.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id809b8b7e-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Appointment of alternate members by members of Board</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Each member of the Board of Trustees specified in paragraphs (1) through (8) of subsection (b) may designate another official to serve on the Board of Trustees in his stead.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id809b8b7f-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Terms of office; vacancies; reappointment</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Each member of the Board of Trustees appointed under paragraph (10) of subsection (b) shall serve for a term of six years from the expiration of his predecessor’s term; except that (1) any trustee appointed to fill a vacancy occurring prior to the expiration of the term for which his predecessor was appointed shall be appointed for the remainder of such term, and (2) the terms of office of the trustees first taking office shall begin on <date date="1968-10-24">October 24, 1968</date>, and shall expire as designated at the time of appointment, two at the end of two years, three at the end of four years, and three at the end of six years. No trustee of the Board chosen from private life shall be eligible to serve in excess of two consecutive terms, except that a trustee whose term has expired may serve until his successor has qualified.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id809b8b80-3b28-11eb-8459-b1d1037aec5b" identifier="/us/usc/t20/s80f/e"><num value="e" class="bold">(e)</num><heading class="bold"> Chairman and Vice Chairman of Board</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The President shall designate a Chairman and a Vice Chairman from among the members of the Board chosen from private life.</p>
