L. 105–20, § 2(a)(2), June 27, 1997, 111 Stat. 232.)","seq_in_title":564,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20/schII/ptB","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21","level":"title","num":"Title 21—","heading":"FOOD AND DRUGS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 20—","heading":"NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL PROGRAM","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20/schII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER II—","heading":"DRUG-FREE COMMUNITIES","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20/schII/ptB","level":"part","num":"Part B—","heading":"Advisory Commission","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id7011efef-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543\"><num value=\"1543\">§ 1543.</num><heading> Membership</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id7011eff0-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><chapeau>The President shall appoint 11 members to the Advisory Commission as follows:</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id7011eff1-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><chapeau> four members shall be appointed from the general public and shall include leaders—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id7011eff2-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/1/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> in fields of youth development, public policy, law, or business; or</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id7011eff3-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/1/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> of nonprofit organizations or private foundations that fund substance abuse programs.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id7011eff4-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> four members shall be appointed from the leading representatives of national substance abuse reduction organizations, of which no fewer than three members shall have extensive training or experience in drug prevention.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id7011eff5-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> three members shall be appointed from the leading representatives of State substance abuse reduction organizations.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id7011eff6-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Chairperson</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Advisory Commission shall elect a chairperson or co-chairpersons from among its members.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id7011eff7-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Ex officio members</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The ex officio membership of the Advisory Commission shall consist of any two officers or employees of the United States that the Director determines to be necessary for the Advisory Commission to effectively carry out its functions.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id7011eff8-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/100/690/s1043\">Pub.
