L. 105–20, § 2(a)(2), June 27, 1997, 111 Stat. 233.)","seq_in_title":558,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20/schII/ptB","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21","level":"title","num":"Title 21—","heading":"FOOD AND DRUGS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 20—","heading":"NATIONAL DRUG CONTROL PROGRAM","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20/schII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER II—","heading":"DRUG-FREE COMMUNITIES","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch20/schII/ptB","level":"part","num":"Part B—","heading":"Advisory Commission","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id7011efff-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1545\"><num value=\"1545\">§ 1545.</num><heading> Terms of office</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id7011f000-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1545/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><chapeau>Subject to subsection (b) of this section, the term of office of a member of the Advisory Commission shall be 3 years, except that, as designated at the time of appointment—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id7011f001-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1545/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> of the initial members appointed under <ref href=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/1\">section 1543(a)(1) of this title</ref>, two shall be appointed for a term of 2 years;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id7011f002-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1545/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> of the initial members appointed under <ref href=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/2\">section 1543(a)(2) of this title</ref>, two shall be appointed for a term of 2 years; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id7011f003-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1545/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> of the initial members appointed under <ref href=\"/us/usc/t21/s1543/a/3\">section 1543(a)(3) of this title</ref>, one shall be appointed for a term of 1 year.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id7011f004-6123-11e3-9d46-8388bf8dcc60\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s1545/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Vacancies</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">Any member appointed to fill a vacancy for an unexpired term of a member shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.
