<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id232f7d0a-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715"><num value="1715">§ 1715.</num><heading> GAO audit</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Not later than 4 years after <date date="2018-10-24">October 24, 2018</date>, and every 4 years thereafter, the Comptroller General of the United States shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id232f7d0b-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><chapeau> conduct an audit relating to the programs and operations of—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id232f7d0c-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the Office; <ref class="footnoteRef" idref="fn002176">1</ref><note type="footnote" id="fn002176"><num>1</num> See References in Text note below.</note> and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id232f7d0d-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><chapeau> certain programs within the Office,<sup>1</sup> including—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id232f7d0e-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/1/B/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas Program;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id232f7d0f-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/1/B/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> the Drug-Free Communities Program; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="id232f7d10-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/1/B/iii"><num value="iii">(iii)</num><content> the campaign under <ref href="/us/usc/t21/s1708/f">section 1708(f) of this title</ref>; and</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id232f7d11-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><chapeau> submit to the Director <sup>1</sup> and the appropriate congressional committees <sup>1</sup> a report containing an evaluation of and recommendations on the—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id232f7d12-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> policies and activities of the programs and operations subject to the audit;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id232f7d13-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of the reviewed programs and operations; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id232f7d14-68b0-11ec-ace1-900962f451a9" identifier="/us/usc/t21/s1715/2/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> policy or management changes needed to prevent and detect fraud and abuse in such programs and operations.</content>
