L. 111–353, title II, § 202(b), Jan. 4, 2011, 124 Stat. 3929.)","seq_in_title":652,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch27/schII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21","level":"title","num":"Title 21—","heading":"FOOD AND DRUGS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch27","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 27—","heading":"FOOD SAFETY MODERNIZATION","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch27/schII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER II—","heading":"IMPROVING CAPACITY TO DETECT AND RESPOND TO FOOD SAFETY PROBLEMS","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" id=\"id1e4de1b9-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s2221\"><num value=\"2221\">§ 2221.</num><heading> Food emergency response network</heading>\n<chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"blockIndent0\">The Secretary, in coordination with the Secretary of Agriculture, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and State, local, and tribal governments shall, not later than 180 days after <date date=\"2011-01-04\">January 4, 2011</date>, and biennially thereafter, submit to the relevant committees of Congress, and make publicly available on the Internet Web site of the Department of Health and Human Services, a report on the progress in implementing a national food emergency response laboratory network that—</chapeau><paragraph class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1e4de1ba-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s2221/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> provides ongoing surveillance, rapid detection, and surge capacity for large-scale food-related emergencies, including intentional adulteration of the food supply;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1e4de1bb-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s2221/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> coordinates the food laboratory capacities of State, local, and tribal food laboratories, including the adoption of novel surveillance and identification technologies and the sharing of data between Federal agencies and State laboratories to develop national situational awareness;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1e4de1bc-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s2221/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> provides accessible, timely, accurate, and consistent food laboratory services throughout the United States;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1e4de1bd-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s2221/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> develops and implements a methods repository for use by Federal, State, and local officials;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1e4e08ce-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s2221/5\"><num value=\"5\">(5)</num><content> responds to food-related emergencies; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph class=\"indent1\" id=\"id1e4e08cf-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s2221/6\"><num value=\"6\">(6)</num><content> is integrated with relevant laboratory networks administered by other Federal agencies.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id1e4e08d0-f63b-11e2-8470-abc29ba29c4d\">\n(<ref href=\"/us/pl/111/353/s202/b\">Pub.
