L. 104–127, title IX, § 918(a)(2), Apr. 4, 1996, 110 Stat. 1190.)","seq_in_title":336,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch10","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21","level":"title","num":"Title 21—","heading":"FOOD AND DRUGS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t21/ch10","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 10—","heading":"POULTRY AND POULTRY PRODUCTS INSPECTION","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id29b72b51-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471\"><num value=\"471\">§ 471.</num><heading> Safe Meat and Poultry Inspection Panel</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2 bold\" id=\"id29b72b52-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/a\"><num value=\"a\">(a)</num><heading> Review and evaluation</heading><chapeau>The advisory panel known as the “Safe Meat and Poultry Inspection Panel” established by <ref href=\"/us/usc/t21/s679a\">section 679a of this title</ref> shall review and evaluate, as the panel considers necessary, the adequacy, necessity, safety, cost-effectiveness, and scientific merit of—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id29b72b53-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> inspection procedures of, and work rules and worker relations involving Federal employees employed in, plants inspected under this chapter;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id29b72b54-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> informal petitions or proposals for changes in inspection procedures, processes, and techniques of plants inspected under this chapter;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id29b72b55-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> formal changes in poultry inspection regulations promulgated under this chapter, whether in notice, proposed, or final form; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id29b72b56-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/a/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> such other matters as may be referred to the panel by the Secretary regarding the quality or effectiveness of a safe and cost-effective poultry inspection system under this chapter.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2 bold\" id=\"id29b72b57-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/b\"><num value=\"b\">(b)</num><heading> Reports</heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2 bold\" id=\"id29b72b58-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/b/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><heading> In general</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">The Safe Meat and Poultry Inspection Panel shall submit to the Secretary a report on the results of each review and evaluation carried out under paragraph (1), including such recommendations as the panel considers appropriate.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2 bold\" id=\"id29b72b59-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t21/s471/b/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><heading> Reports on formal changes</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">In the case of a report concerning a formal change in poultry inspection regulations, the report shall be made within the time limits prescribed for formal comments on such changes.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id29b72b5a-3271-11e3-81c9-db9a7820b8d4\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/85/172/s30\">Pub.
