<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">South Carolina constitutes one judicial district comprising eleven divisions.</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I56" class="indent4 firstIndent-2" id="id138f6e9f-f67d-11e5-bd8c-a577a4d23433" identifier="/us/usc/t28/s121/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> The Charleston Division comprises the counties of Berkeley, Charleston, Clarendon, Colleton, Dorchester, and Georgetown.<p style="-uslm-lc:I56" class="indent4 firstIndent-2">Court for the Charleston Division shall be held at Charleston.</p>

L. 89–242</ref> provided for the consolidation, in compliance with <ref href="/us/usc/t28/s132">section 132 of this title</ref>, of the Eastern and Western Districts of South Carolina into a single district with continuing jurisdiction over civil cases and criminal acts pending or committed prior to <date date="1965-11-01">Nov. 1, 1965</date>, and appropriate provisions for the appointment or transfer of United States attorneys, marshals, and other court personnel, then serving, from the two districts to the consolidated district.</p>
