<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id6fe4579e-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537"><num value="1537">§ 1537.</num><heading> Services between the United States Government and the District of Columbia government</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id6fe4579f-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><chapeau> To prevent duplication and to promote efficiency and economy, an officer or employee of—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457a0-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the United States Government may provide services to the District of Columbia government; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457a1-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the District of Columbia government may provide services to the United States Government.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id6fe457a2-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b"><num value="b">(b)</num><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id6fe457a3-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><chapeau> Services under this section shall be provided under an agreement—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457a4-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> negotiated by officers and employees of the 2 governments; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457a5-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> approved by the Director of the Office of Management and Budget and the Mayor of the District of Columbia.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id6fe457a6-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> Each agreement shall provide that the cost of providing the services shall be borne in the way provided in subsection (c) of this section by the government to which the services are provided at rates or charges based on the actual cost of providing the services.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id6fe457a7-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><chapeau> To carry out an agreement made under this subsection, the agreement may provide for the delegation of duties and powers of officers and employees of—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457a8-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b/3/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the District of Columbia government to officers and employees of the United States Government; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457a9-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/b/3/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the United States Government to officers and employees of the District of Columbia government.</content>
</subparagraph>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id6fe457aa-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/c"><num value="c">(c)</num><chapeau> In providing services under an agreement made under subsection (b) of this section—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457ab-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/c/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> costs incurred by the United States Government may be paid from appropriations available to the District of Columbia government officer or employee to whom the services were provided; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id6fe457ac-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/c/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> costs incurred by the District of Columbia government may be paid from amounts available to the United States Government officer or employee to whom the services were provided.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id6fe457ad-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s1537/d"><num value="d">(d)</num><content> When requested by the Director of the United States Secret Service, the Chief of the Metropolitan Police shall assist the Secret Service and the Secret Service Uniformed Division on a non-reimbursable basis in carrying out their protective duties under sections 3056 and 3056A of title 18.</content>
