L. 97–258, Sept. 13, 1982, 96 Stat. 948.)","seq_in_title":192,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t31/stIII/ch33/schI","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t31","level":"title","num":"Title 31—","heading":"MONEY AND FINANCE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t31/stIII","level":"subtitle","num":"SUBTITLE III—","heading":"FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t31/stIII/ch33","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 33—","heading":"DEPOSITING, KEEPING, AND PAYING MONEY","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t31/stIII/ch33/schI","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER I—","heading":"DEPOSITS AND DEPOSITARIES","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id405b1424-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301\"><num value=\"3301\">§ 3301.</num><heading> General duties of the Secretary of the Treasury</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id405b1425-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/a\"><num value=\"a\">(a)</num><chapeau> The Secretary of the Treasury shall—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id405b1426-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> receive and keep public money;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id405b1427-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> take receipts for money paid out by the Secretary;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id405b1428-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> give receipts for money deposited in the Treasury;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id405b1429-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/a/4\"><num value=\"4\">(4)</num><content> endorse warrants for receipts for money deposited in the Treasury;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id405b142a-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/a/5\"><num value=\"5\">(5)</num><content> submit the accounts of the Secretary to the Comptroller General every 3 months, or more often if required by the Comptroller General; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id405b142b-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/a/6\"><num value=\"6\">(6)</num><content> submit to inspection at any time by the Comptroller General of money in the possession of the Secretary.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id405b142c-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s3301/b\"><num value=\"b\">(b)</num><content> Except as provided in <ref href=\"/us/usc/t31/s3326\">section 3326 of this title</ref>, an acknowledgment for money deposited in the Treasury is not valid if the Secretary does not endorse a warrant as required by subsection (a)(4) of this section.</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id405b142d-7414-11ea-9c1e-8f32f99f466a\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/97/258\">Pub.
