<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">In this chapter:</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad19e5c1-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Agency</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “agency” has the meaning given the term in <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s552/f">section 552(f) of title 5</ref>.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad19e5c2-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Core data elements</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The term “core data elements” means data elements relating to financial management, administration, or management that—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad19e5c3-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> are not program-specific in nature or program-specific outcome measures, as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s1115/h">section 1115(h) of this title</ref>; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1a0cd4-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> are required by agencies for all or the vast majority of recipients of Federal awards for purposes of reporting.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad1a0cd5-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Director</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “Director” means the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad1a0cd6-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Executive department</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “Executive department” has the meaning given the term in <ref href="/us/usc/t5/s101">section 101 of title 5</ref>.</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad1a0cd7-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5"><num value="5">(5)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Federal award</inline>.—</heading><chapeau>The term “Federal award”—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1a0cd8-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> means the transfer of anything of value for a public purpose of support or stimulation authorized by a law of the United States, including financial assistance and Government facilities, services, and property;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1a0cd9-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> includes a grant, a subgrant, a cooperative agreement, or any other transaction; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="idad1a0cda-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><chapeau> does not include a transaction or agreement—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="idad1a0cdb-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> that provides for conventional public information services or procurement of property or services for the direct benefit or use of the Government; or</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I14" class="indent3" id="idad1a0cdc-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><chapeau> that provides only—</chapeau><subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="idad1a0cdd-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C/ii/I"><num value="I">(I)</num><content> direct Government cash assistance to an individual;</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="idad1a0cde-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C/ii/II"><num value="II">(II)</num><content> a subsidy;</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="idad1a0cdf-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C/ii/III"><num value="III">(III)</num><content> a loan;</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="idad1a0ce0-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C/ii/IV"><num value="IV">(IV)</num><content> a loan guarantee; or</content>
</subclause>
<subclause style="-uslm-lc:I16" class="indent4" id="idad1a0ce1-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/5/C/ii/V"><num value="V">(V)</num><content> insurance.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad1a0ce2-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/6"><num value="6">(6)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Secretary</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “Secretary” means the head of the standard-setting agency.</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="idad1a0ce3-4f43-11ea-949e-c0bdc5fe71e7" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s6401/7"><num value="7">(7)</num><heading> <inline class="small-caps">Standard-setting agency</inline>.—</heading><content>The term “standard-setting agency” means the Executive department designated under section 6402(a)(1).</content>
