<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id21fb4b2d-3bf5-11e3-9fd0-985dd9cd422a" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s732a"><num value="732a">§ 732a.</num><heading> Critical positions</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id21fb4b2e-3bf5-11e3-9fd0-985dd9cd422a" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s732a/a"><num value="a">(a)</num><chapeau> The Comptroller General may establish senior-level positions to meet critical scientific, technical or professional needs of the Government Accountability Office. An individual serving in such a position shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id21fb4b2f-3bf5-11e3-9fd0-985dd9cd422a" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s732a/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> be subject to the laws and regulations applicable to the General Accounting Office Senior Executive Service <ref class="footnoteRef" idref="fn002013">1</ref><note type="footnote" id="fn002013"><num>1</num> See Change of Name note below.</note> under <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s733">section 733 of this title</ref>, with respect to rates of basic pay, performance awards, ranks, carry over of annual leave, benefits, performance appraisals, removal or suspension, and reductions in force;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id21fb4b30-3bf5-11e3-9fd0-985dd9cd422a" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s732a/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> have the same rights of appeal to the General Accounting Office Personnel Appeals Board <sup>1</sup> as are provided to the Office Senior Executive Service;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id21fb4b31-3bf5-11e3-9fd0-985dd9cd422a" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s732a/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> be exempt from the same provisions of law as are made inapplicable to the Office Senior Executive Service under <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s733/d">section 733(d) of this title</ref>, except for <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s732/e">section 732(e) of this title</ref>;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id21fb4b32-3bf5-11e3-9fd0-985dd9cd422a" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s732a/a/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> be entitled to discontinued service retirement under chapter 83 or 84 of title 5 as if a member of the Office Senior Executive Service; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id21fb4b33-3bf5-11e3-9fd0-985dd9cd422a" identifier="/us/usc/t31/s732a/a/5"><num value="5">(5)</num><content> be subject to reassignment by the Comptroller General to any position in the Office Senior Executive Service under <ref href="/us/usc/t31/s733">section 733 of this title</ref>, as the Comptroller General determines necessary and appropriate.</content>
