L. 115–334, title VI, § 6602(b)(20), Dec. 20, 2018, 132 Stat. 4777.)","seq_in_title":471,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t31/stVI/ch91","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t31","level":"title","num":"Title 31—","heading":"MONEY AND FINANCE","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t31/stVI","level":"subtitle","num":"SUBTITLE VI—","heading":"MISCELLANEOUS","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t31/stVI/ch91","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 91—","heading":"GOVERNMENT CORPORATIONS","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id703efb2a-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108\"><num value=\"9108\">§ 9108.</num><heading> Obligations</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id703efb2b-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/a\"><num value=\"a\">(a)</num><chapeau> Before a Government corporation issues obligations and offers obligations to the public, the Secretary of the Treasury shall prescribe—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id703efb2c-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> the form, denomination, maturity, interest rate, and conditions to which the obligations will be subject;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id703efb2d-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> the way and time the obligations are issued; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id703efb2e-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> the price for which the obligations will be sold.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id703efb2f-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/b\"><num value=\"b\">(b)</num><content> A Government corporation may buy or sell a direct obligation of the United States Government, or an obligation on which the principal, interest, or both, is guaranteed, of more than $100,000 only when the Secretary approves the purchase or sale. The Secretary may waive the requirement of this subsection under conditions the Secretary may decide.</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id703f2240-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/c\"><num value=\"c\">(c)</num><content> The Secretary may designate an officer or employee of an agency to carry out this section if the head of the agency agrees.</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id703f2241-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/d\"><num value=\"d\">(d)</num><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id703f2242-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/d/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> This section does not apply to a mixed-ownership Government corporation when the corporation has no capital of the Government.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\" id=\"id703f2243-b854-11e9-b72c-a5fb66e51517\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t31/s9108/d/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> Subsections (a) and (b) of this section do not apply to the Federal Intermediate Credit Banks, the Central Bank for Cooperatives, the Regional Banks for Cooperatives, and the Federal Land Banks. However, the head of each of those banks shall consult with the Secretary before taking action of the kind described in subsection (a) or (b).
