Training for rural criminal justice personnel shall include, when appropriate, effective use of regional resources and methods to improve coordination among criminal justice personnel in different areas and in different levels of government. Such training shall be provided only for persons actually employed as State police or highway patrol, police of a unit of local government, sheriffs, and their deputies, railroad police officer,<ref class=\"footnoteRef\" idref=\"fn002005\">1</ref><note type=\"footnote\" id=\"fn002005\"><num>1</num> So in original. Probably should be “officers,”.</note> and other persons as the State, unit of local government, or rail carrier may nominate for police training while such persons are actually employed as officers of such State, unit of local government, or rail carrier.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id260ac7e6-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10211/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> General authority of Attorney General over Director</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">In the exercise of the functions, powers, and duties established under this section the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation shall be under the general authority of the Attorney General.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id260ac7e7-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10211/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Training programs for State and local personnel at Federal Training Center</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">Notwithstanding the provisions of subsection (a), the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized to establish, develop, and conduct training programs at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center at Glynco, Georgia, to provide, at the request of a State or unit of local government, training for State and local criminal justice personnel provided that such training does not interfere with the Center’s mission to train Federal law enforcement personnel.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id260aeef8-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10211/d\"><num value=\"d\" class=\"bold\">(d)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Rail carrier costs</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">No Federal funds may be used for any travel, transportation, or subsistence expenses incurred in connection with the participation of a railroad police officer in a training program conducted under subsection (a).</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id260aeef9-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10211/e\"><num value=\"e\" class=\"bold\">(e)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Definitions</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">In this section—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id260b160a-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10211/e/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> the terms “rail carrier” and “railroad” have the meanings given such terms in <ref href=\"/us/usc/t49/s20102\">section 20102 of title 49</ref>; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id260b160b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10211/e/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> the term “railroad police officer” means a peace officer who is commissioned in his or her State of legal residence or State of primary employment and employed by a rail carrier to enforce State laws for the protection of railroad property, personnel, passengers, or cargo.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id260b160c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/90/351/tI/s701\">Pub.
