<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id15171ae3-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10262"><num value="10262">§ 10262.</num><heading> State and local governments to consider courts</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Attorney General may require, as appropriate, that whenever a State or unit of local government or Indian tribe applies for a grant from the Department of Justice, the State, unit, or tribe demonstrate that, in developing the application and distributing funds, the State, unit, or tribe—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id151741f4-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10262/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> considered the needs of the judicial branch of the State, unit, or tribe, as the case may be;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id151741f5-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10262/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> consulted with the chief judicial officer of the highest court of the State, unit, or tribe, as the case may be; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id151741f6-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10262/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> consulted with the chief law enforcement officer of the law enforcement agency responsible for the security needs of the judicial branch of the State, unit, or tribe, as the case may be.</content>
