<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id151fa71a-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10402"><num value="10402">§ 10402.</num><heading> Tribal grant program authorized</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id151fa71b-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10402/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">From the amount reserved under section 1810(b),<ref class="footnoteRef" idref="fn002024">1</ref><note type="footnote" id="fn002024"><num>1</num> See References in Text note below.</note> the Attorney General shall make grants to Indian tribes for programs to strengthen tribal juvenile justice systems and to hold tribal youth accountable.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id151fa71c-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10402/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Eligibility</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">Indian tribes, as defined by <ref href="/us/usc/t25/s5130">section 5130 of title 25</ref>, or a consortia of such tribes, shall submit to the Attorney General an application in such form and containing such information as the Attorney General may require. Only tribes that carry out tribal juvenile justice functions shall be eligible to receive a grant under this section.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id151fa71d-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10402/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Awards</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Attorney General shall award grants under this section on a competitive basis.</p>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id151fa71e-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10402/d"><num value="d" class="bold">(d)</num><heading class="bold"> Guidelines</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Attorney General shall issue guidelines establishing application, use, and award criteria and processes consistent with the purposes and requirements of this Act.</p>
