B, title XIV, § 14012, Dec. 13, 2016, 130 Stat. 1297.)","seq_in_title":114,"parent_identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stI/ch101/schXVIII","ancestors":[{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34","level":"title","num":"Title 34—","heading":"CRIME CONTROL AND LAW ENFORCEMENT","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stI","level":"subtitle","num":"Subtitle I—","heading":"Comprehensive Acts","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stI/ch101","level":"chapter","num":"CHAPTER 101—","heading":"JUSTICE SYSTEM IMPROVEMENT","status":null,"is_section":false},{"identifier":"/us/usc/t34/stI/ch101/schXVIII","level":"subchapter","num":"SUBCHAPTER XVIII—","heading":"RESIDENTIAL SUBSTANCE ABUSE TREATMENT FOR STATE PRISONERS","status":null,"is_section":false}],"xml":"<section xmlns=\"http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0\" xmlns:xsi=\"http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance\" xmlns:dc=\"http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/\" xmlns:dcterms=\"http://purl.org/dc/terms/\" style=\"-uslm-lc:I80\" id=\"id26392a9b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10421\"><num value=\"10421\">§ 10421.</num><heading> Grant authorization</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26392a9c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10421/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General may make grants under this subchapter to States, for use by States and units of local government for the purpose of—</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26392a9d-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10421/a/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> developing and implementing residential substance abuse treatment programs within State correctional facilities, as well as within local correctional and detention facilities in which inmates are incarcerated for a period of time sufficient to permit substance abuse treatment;</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26392a9e-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10421/a/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> encouraging the establishment and maintenance of drug-free prisons and jails; and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26392a9f-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10421/a/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> developing and implementing specialized residential substance abuse treatment programs that identify and provide appropriate treatment to inmates with co-occurring mental health and substance abuse disorders or challenges.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26392aa0-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10421/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Consultation</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General shall consult with the Secretary of Health and Human Services to ensure that projects of substance abuse treatment and related services for State prisoners incorporate applicable components of existing comprehensive approaches including relapse prevention and aftercare services.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26392aa1-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s10421/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Additional use of funds</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">States that demonstrate that they have existing in-prison drug treatment programs that are in compliance with Federal requirements may use funds awarded under this subchapter for treatment and sanctions both during incarceration and after release.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id263951b2-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/90/351/tI/s1901\">Pub.
