<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id2643b1af-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462"><num value="10462">§ 10462.</num><heading> Applications</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id2643b1b0-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Application</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">An eligible grantee shall submit an application to the Attorney General that—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643b1b1-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><chapeau> contains a certification by the chief executive officer of the State, Indian tribal government, court, or local government entity that the conditions of <ref href="/us/usc/t34/s10461/c">section 10461(c) of this title</ref> are met or will be met within the later of—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id2643b1b2-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/a/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the period ending on the date on which the next session of the State or Indian tribal legislature ends; or</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id2643b1b3-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/a/1/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> 2 years of <date date="1994-09-13">September 13, 1994</date> or, in the case of the condition set forth in subsection <ref class="footnoteRef" idref="fn002043">1</ref><note type="footnote" id="fn002043"><num>1</num> So in original. </paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643b1b4-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> describes plans to further the purposes stated in <ref href="/us/usc/t34/s10461/a">section 10461(a) of this title</ref>;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643b1b5-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/a/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> identifies the agency or office or groups of agencies or offices responsible for carrying out the program; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643b1b6-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/a/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> includes documentation from victim service providers and, as appropriate, population specific organizations demonstrating their participation in developing the application, and identifying such programs in which such groups will be consulted for development and implementation.</content>

</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id2643b1b7-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> Priority</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">In awarding grants under this subchapter, the Attorney General shall give priority to applicants that—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643b1b8-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> do not currently provide for centralized handling of cases involving domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking by police, prosecutors, and courts;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643b1b9-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> demonstrate a commitment to strong enforcement of laws, and prosecution of cases, involving domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking, including the enforcement of protection orders from other States and jurisdictions (including tribal jurisdictions);</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643d8ca-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> have established cooperative agreements or can demonstrate effective ongoing collaborative arrangements with neighboring jurisdictions to facilitate the enforcement of protection orders from other States and jurisdictions (including tribal jurisdictions); and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id2643d8cb-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> in applications describing plans to further the purposes stated in paragraph (4) or (7) of <ref href="/us/usc/t34/s10461/b">section 10461(b) of this title</ref>, will give priority to using the grant to develop and install data collection and communication systems, including computerized systems, and training on how to use these systems effectively to link police, prosecutors, courts, and tribal jurisdictions for the purpose of identifying and tracking protection orders and violations of protection orders, in those jurisdictions where such systems do not exist or are not fully effective.</content>
</paragraph>
</subsection>
<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id2643d8cc-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10462/c"><num value="c" class="bold">(c)</num><heading class="bold"> Dissemination of information</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Attorney General shall annually compile and broadly disseminate (including through electronic publication) information about successful data collection and communication systems that meet the purposes described in this section. Such dissemination shall target States, State and local courts, Indian tribal governments, and units of local government.</p>
