(b) has been enacted.</note> Purpose and program authority</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id26582458-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> Purpose</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">It is the purpose of this subchapter to assist States, territories, and Indian tribes (as defined in <ref href="/us/usc/t34/s10554">section 10554 of this title</ref>)—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id26582459-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/1/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> to carry out programs to address the manufacture, sale, and use of methamphetamine drugs; and</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id2658245b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Grant authorization</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">The Attorney General, through the Bureau of Justice Assistance in the Office of Justice Programs may make grants to States, territories, and Indian tribes to address the manufacture, sale, and use of methamphetamine to enhance public safety.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I79" class="indent3 firstIndent-2" id="id26584b6c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Grant projects to address methamphetamine manufacture sale and use</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1">Grants made under subsection (a) may be used for programs, projects, and other activities to—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id26584b6d-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/3/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> investigate, arrest and prosecute individuals violating laws related to the use, manufacture, or sale of methamphetamine;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id26584b6e-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/3/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> reimburse the Drug Enforcement Administration for expenses related to the clean up of methamphetamine clandestine labs;</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id26584b6f-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/3/C"><num value="C">(C)</num><content> support State, Tribal, and local health department and environmental agency services deployed to address methamphetamine; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I13" class="indent2" id="id26584b70-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s10661/a/3/D"><num value="D">(D)</num><content> procure equipment, technology, or support systems, or pay for resources, if the applicant for such a grant demonstrates to the satisfaction of the Attorney General that expenditures for such purposes would result in the reduction in the use, sale, and manufacture of methamphetamine.</content>
