<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id1547a168-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s11292"><num value="11292">§ 11292.</num><heading> Definitions</heading>
<chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">For the purpose of this subchapter—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1547a169-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s11292/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> the term “missing child” means any individual less than 18 years of age whose whereabouts are unknown to such individual’s parent;</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1547a16a-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s11292/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> the term “Administrator” means the Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention;</content>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1547a16b-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s11292/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> the term “Center” means the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id1547a16c-8160-11e9-8f35-c624b526f388" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s11292/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> the term “parent” includes a legal guardian or other individual who may lawfully exercise parental rights with respect to the child.</content>

L. 109–248</ref>, which directed amendment of “Section 403(1) of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984 (<ref href="/us/usc/t42/s5772">42 U.S.C. 5772</ref>)” by substituting a semicolon at end for “if—” through subpar. (B), was executed by substituting a semicolon for “if—”and subpars. (A) and (B) of par. (1) of this section, which is section 403 of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974, <ref href="/us/pl/93/415">Pub. L. 93–415</ref>, as added by section 660 of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, to reflect the probable intent of Congress. Prior to amendment, subpars. (A) and (B) read as follows:</p>
<p style="-uslm-lc:I21" class="indent0">“(A) the circumstances surrounding such individual’s disappearance indicate that such individual may possibly have been removed by another from the control of such individual’s legal custodian without such custodian’s consent; or</p>
<p style="-uslm-lc:I21" class="indent0">“(B) the circumstances of the case strongly indicate that such individual is likely to be abused or sexually exploited;”.</p>
