value=\"12271\">§ 12271.</num><heading> Prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of tuberculosis in correctional institutions</heading><subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26904b01-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/a\"><num value=\"a\" class=\"bold\">(a)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Guidelines</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General, in consultation with the Secretary of Health and Human Services and the Director of the National Institute of Corrections, shall develop and disseminate to appropriate entities, including State, Indian tribal, and local correctional institutions and the Immigration and Naturalization Service, guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and followup care of tuberculosis among inmates of correctional institutions and persons held in holding facilities operated by or under contract with the Immigration and Naturalization Service.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26907212-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/b\"><num value=\"b\" class=\"bold\">(b)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Compliance</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">The Attorney General shall ensure that prisons in the Federal prison system and holding facilities operated by or under contract with the Immigration and Naturalization Service comply with the guidelines described in subsection (a).</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26907213-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Grants</heading><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26907214-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/1\"><num value=\"1\" class=\"bold\">(1)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> In general</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">The Attorney General shall make grants to State, Indian tribal, and local correction authorities and public health authorities to assist in establishing and operating programs for the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and followup care of tuberculosis among inmates of correctional institutions.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26907215-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/2\"><num value=\"2\" class=\"bold\">(2)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Federal share</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">The Federal share of funding of a program funded with a grant under paragraph (1) shall not exceed 50 percent.</p>\n</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I79\" class=\"indent3 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26907216-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/3\"><num value=\"3\" class=\"bold\">(3)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Authorization of appropriations</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\">There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26907217-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/3/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> $700,000 for fiscal year 1996;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26907218-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/3/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> $1,000,000 for fiscal year 1997;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26907219-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/3/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> $1,000,000 for fiscal year 1998;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2690721a-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/3/D\"><num value=\"D\">(D)</num><content> $1,100,000 for fiscal year 1999; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id2690721b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/c/3/E\"><num value=\"E\">(E)</num><content> $1,200,000 for fiscal year 2000.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id2690721c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s12271/d\"><num value=\"d\" class=\"bold\">(d)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Definitions</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">In this section—</p>\n<p style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" role=\"listItem\" class=\"indent1\">“Indian tribe” means a tribe, band, pueblo, nation, or other organized group or community of Indians, including an Alaska Native village (as defined in or established under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (<ref href=\"/us/usc/t43/s1601\">43 U.S.C. 1601</ref> et seq.),<ref class=\"footnoteRef\" idref=\"fn002100\">1</ref><note type=\"footnote\" id=\"fn002100\"><num>1</num> So in original.
