<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id26a3abf5-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554"><num value="12554">§ 12554.</num><heading> Designation of lead agency and submission of State plan</heading><subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26a3abf6-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/a"><num value="a" class="bold">(a)</num><heading class="bold"> Lead agency</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">A State that desires to participate in the Police Corps program under this part shall designate a lead agency that will be responsible for—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26a3abf7-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/a/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> submitting to the Director a State plan described in subsection (b); and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26a3abf8-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/a/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> administering the program in the State.</content>

<subsection style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26a3abf9-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/b"><num value="b" class="bold">(b)</num><heading class="bold"> State plans</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">A State plan shall—</chapeau><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26a3abfa-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/b/1"><num value="1">(1)</num><content> contain assurances that the lead agency shall work in cooperation with the local law enforcement liaisons, representatives of police labor organizations and police management organizations, and other appropriate State and local agencies to develop and implement interagency agreements designed to carry out the program;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26a3abfb-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/b/2"><num value="2">(2)</num><content> contain assurances that the State shall advertise the assistance available under this part;</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26a3abfc-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/b/3"><num value="3">(3)</num><content> contain assurances that the State shall screen and select law enforcement personnel for participation in the program; and</content>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26a3abfd-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12554/b/4"><num value="4">(4)</num><content> meet the requirements of <ref href="/us/usc/t34/s12559">section 12559 of this title</ref>.</content>
