<section xmlns="http://xml.house.gov/schemas/uslm/1.0" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/" xmlns:dcterms="http://purl.org/dc/terms/" style="-uslm-lc:I80" id="id26aad826-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641"><num value="12641">§ 12641.</num><heading> Task force relating to introduction of nonindigenous species</heading><paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26aad827-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/1"><num value="1" class="bold">(1)</num><heading class="bold"> In general</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The Attorney General is authorized to convene a law enforcement task force in Hawaii to facilitate the prosecution of violations of Federal laws, and laws of the State of Hawaii, relating to the wrongful conveyance, sale, or introduction of nonindigenous plant and animal species.</p>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26aad828-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2"><num value="2" class="bold">(2)</num><heading class="bold"> Membership</heading><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id26aad829-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><chapeau> The task force shall be composed of representatives of—</chapeau><clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aad82a-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/i"><num value="i">(i)</num><content> the Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Hawaii;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff3b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/ii"><num value="ii">(ii)</num><content> the United States Customs Service;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff3c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/iii"><num value="iii">(iii)</num><content> the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff3d-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/iv"><num value="iv">(iv)</num><content> the Fish and Wildlife Service;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff3e-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/v"><num value="v">(v)</num><content> the National Park Service;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff3f-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/vi"><num value="vi">(vi)</num><content> the United States Forest Service;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff40-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/vii"><num value="vii">(vii)</num><content> the Military Customs Inspection Office of the Department of Defense;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff41-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/viii"><num value="viii">(viii)</num><content> the United States Postal Service;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff42-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/ix"><num value="ix">(ix)</num><content> the office of the Attorney General of the State of Hawaii;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff43-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/x"><num value="x">(x)</num><content> the Hawaii Department of Agriculture;</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff44-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/xi"><num value="xi">(xi)</num><content> the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources; and</content>
</clause>
<clause style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff45-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/A/xii"><num value="xii">(xii)</num><content> such other individuals as the Attorney General deems appropriate.</content>
</clause>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0" id="id26aaff46-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/2/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> The Attorney General shall, to the extent practicable, select individuals to serve on the task force who have experience with the enforcement of laws relating to the wrongful conveyance, sale, or introduction of nonindigenous plant and animal species.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26aaff47-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/3"><num value="3" class="bold">(3)</num><heading class="bold"> Duties</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The task force shall—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff48-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/3/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> facilitate the prosecution of violations of Federal and State laws relating to the conveyance, sale, or introduction of nonindigenous plant and animal species into Hawaii; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff49-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/3/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> make recommendations on ways to strengthen Federal and State laws and law enforcement strategies designed to prevent the introduction of nonindigenous plant and animal species.</content>
</subparagraph>
</paragraph>
<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26aaff4a-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/4"><num value="4" class="bold">(4)</num><heading class="bold"> Report</heading><chapeau style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The task force shall report to the Attorney General, the Secretary of Agriculture, the Secretary of the Interior, and to the Committee on the Judiciary and Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry of the Senate and the Committee on the Judiciary, Committee on Agriculture, and Committee on Merchant Marine and Fisheries of the House of Representatives on—</chapeau><subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff4b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/4/A"><num value="A">(A)</num><content> the progress of its enforcement efforts; and</content>
</subparagraph>
<subparagraph style="-uslm-lc:I12" class="indent1" id="id26aaff4c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/4/B"><num value="B">(B)</num><content> the adequacy of existing Federal laws and laws of the State of Hawaii that relate to the introduction of nonindigenous plant and animal species.</content>
</subparagraph>

<continuation style="-uslm-lc:I10" class="indent0 firstIndent0">Thereafter, the task force shall make such reports as the task force deems appropriate.</continuation>

<paragraph style="-uslm-lc:I19" class="indent2 firstIndent-2" id="id26aaff4d-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019" identifier="/us/usc/t34/s12641/5"><num value="5" class="bold">(5)</num><heading class="bold"> Consultation</heading><content><p style="-uslm-lc:I11" class="indent0">The task force shall consult with Hawaii agricultural interests and representatives of Hawaii conservation organizations about methods of preventing the wrongful conveyance, sale, or introduction of nonindigenous plant and animal species into Hawaii.</p>
