and</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26b5fb65-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/b/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><chapeau> to develop and administer a variety of witness assistance services, which includes—</chapeau><subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26b5fb66-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/b/3/A\"><num value=\"A\">(A)</num><content> counseling services to young witnesses dealing with trauma associated in witnessing a violent crime;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26b5fb67-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/b/3/B\"><num value=\"B\">(B)</num><content> pre- and post-trial assistance for the youth and their family;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26b5fb68-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/b/3/C\"><num value=\"C\">(C)</num><content> providing education services if the child is removed from or changes their school for safety concerns;</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26b62279-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/b/3/D\"><num value=\"D\">(D)</num><content> protective services for young witnesses and their families when a serious threat of harm from the perpetrators or their associates is made; and</content>\n</subparagraph>\n<subparagraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I13\" class=\"indent2\" id=\"id26b6227a-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/b/3/E\"><num value=\"E\">(E)</num><content> community outreach and school-based initiatives that stimulate and maintain public awareness and support.</content>\n</subparagraph>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26b6227b-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/c\"><num value=\"c\" class=\"bold\">(c)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Definitions</heading><chapeau style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">In this section:</chapeau><paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26b6227c-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/c/1\"><num value=\"1\">(1)</num><content> The term “juvenile” means an individual who is age 17 or younger.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26b6227d-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/c/2\"><num value=\"2\">(2)</num><content> The term “young adult” means an individual who is age 21 or younger but not a juvenile.</content>\n</paragraph>\n<paragraph style=\"-uslm-lc:I12\" class=\"indent1\" id=\"id26b6227e-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/c/3\"><num value=\"3\">(3)</num><content> The term “State” includes the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, Guam, and the Northern Mariana Islands.</content>\n</paragraph>\n</subsection>\n<subsection style=\"-uslm-lc:I19\" class=\"indent2 firstIndent-2\" id=\"id26b6227f-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\" identifier=\"/us/usc/t34/s20143/d\"><num value=\"d\" class=\"bold\">(d)</num><heading class=\"bold\"> Authorization of appropriations</heading><content><p style=\"-uslm-lc:I11\" class=\"indent0\">There are authorized to be appropriated to carry out this section $3,000,000 for each of fiscal years 2006 through 2009.</p>\n</content>\n</subsection>\n<sourceCredit id=\"id26b62280-0f21-11eb-9212-a1a9175aa019\">(<ref href=\"/us/pl/109/162/tXI/s1136\">Pub.
